Located on a beautiful 81-acre park-like property in the St. Matthews/Crescent Hill area of Louisville, Masonic Homes of Kentucky included 151 independent living apartments with lovely views of stately trees and expansive lawns in addition to the 167-bed Nursing Facility and Personal Care facility with 104 beds.

Our Nursing and Skilled Nursing Care Facility is dually certified for both Medicare and Medicaid. We provide full service individualized short-term and long-term care. We have comprehensive rehabilitation programs with qualified therapists, a registered dietician, IV certified nurses, and a full time chaplain. Staff strives to meet the medical, social and spiritual needs of each resident. Cable TV, whirlpool baths, beauty shop available. We have a secure wander system with residents bracelets for those suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease or Dementia.

Located just 5 minutes from Baptist Hospital East, Norton’s Suburban Hospital and Jewish Hospital East. We also accept for admission Hospice, private insurance and private pay residents.

The Masonic Homes of Kentucky is situated on the outskirts of one of the safest neighborhoods in Louisville, Kentucky. Widely known as the founding home of the Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise, it is one of only two cities in Kentucky that are designated as “first class.”

According to the last US census in 2014, Louisville has a population of 760,000 citizens and is represented by the following age groupings:

- Louisville is home to many annual cultural events. Perhaps most well-known is the Kentucky Derby , an annual horse race held on the first Saturday of May as part of the two-week Kentucky Derby Festival.
- Beginning in late February or early March, residents can look forward to the Humana Festival of New American Plays at Actors Theatre of Louisville. This internationally acclaimed new-play festival lasts approximately six weeks and celebrates contemporary American playwrights.
- On Memorial Day weekend, Louisville hosts the largest annual Beatles Festival in the world, called Abbey Road on the River . The festival lasts five days and is located on the Belvedere in downtown Louisville.
- The summer season in Louisville also features a series of cultural events such as the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival , held in July of every year. Attendees can take in free Shakespeare plays in Central Park in Old Louisville.
- In July, the Forecastle Festival draws 35,000 visitors annually to Louisville Waterfront Park in celebration of the best in music, art, and environmental activism.
- The Kentucky State Fair is held every August at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, as well, featuring an array of culture from all areas of Kentucky.
- In nearby Bardstown, the annual Kentucky Bourbon Festival celebrates the history and art of distilling bourbon whiskey every September.
- The month of October features the St. James Court Art Show in Old Louisville. Thousands of artists gather on the streets and in the courtyard to exhibit and sell their wares. This event is attended by many art collectors and enthusiasts. The show is the second most-attended event next to the Derby.

- Belle of Louisville is the oldest Mississippi-style steamboat in operation in the US.

Public Safety
Louisville was ranked as the 39th most dangerous city out of the 86 most populous cities in the United States for violent crime per capita. Violent crime is concentrated in the Western Downtown regions, which is far away from The Masonic Homes of Kentucky.

Transportation
Louisville International Airport has three runways and serves as both a public and military use facility. The public transport system, Transit Authority of River City (TARC) , consists mainly of buses run by the city. Intercity buses are managed by Greyhound and Megabus. There are various trails for bikes and pedestrians. Unfortunately, there isn’t a rail service for the general public.

Climate
Louisville has a humid sub-tropical climate. Summer is typically hazy and hot with temperatures varying between 90°F and 100°F. Winters typical bring a mixture of rain, sleet, and snow with temperatures dipping to 10°F. The wettest periods are spring and summer.

There are at least 20 shopping locations in Louisville. The closest ones to The Masonic are Mall St. Matthews and Oxmoor Centre with 130 and 110 stores, respectively.
